You should contact your insurance company to find out if your policy covers roof damage and whether you have a deductible. The process of paying a claim is straightforward but can vary somewhat from insurer to insurer. There are a few things to keep in mind: (1) Make sure you have comprehensive coverage, as damage from storms is usually not covered by standard home insurance policies. (2) Take pictures and/or video of the damage before you start any repairs, as these will be needed to support your claim. (3) Contact your insurance company as soon as possible after the damage occurs and be prepared to provide detailed information about the extent of the damage. (4) Keep all receipts related to the repair work, as they may be required for reimbursement later.
